Granular Effervescent Salts
Two general processes are given for
preparing effervescent salts, the one to be used being determined by the
quantity of material taken. The products, however, from both processes
should be identical. The citric acid should be uneffloresced
crystals, powdered immediately before using; the other ingredients
should be dried at a temperature not exceeding 50 C. The
granulation is performed in an oven or on a water bath. The dry granular
powder is passed through a No.1 tinned-iron sieve, and immediately
transferred to dry bottles of containers, and hermetically sealed.
