On the way to Pharmageddon Castle - Part 1

The Sky is Blue Because.
Look to the heavens on a clear day We can with our technology look at earthrise from the moon or from a port of an orbiting space craft and behold our common mother - dressed in a cloud spangled cloak of blue - the only refuge of our kind in this our solar system - and see her roll in ecstasy beneath that great solar eye - as she is impregnated with the golden seed of life.

Our common Mother in her fecundity spawns the myriad forms of life - but to each in its time - to prepare the nest in an evolutionary spiral so that the caterpillar may become a butterfly in its due time - but there was a time in the sunlit hours when the sky was red or yellow or green - when the mixture of mothers gassy mantle was very different to what it is now - and the sky is blue because the green plants made it so.

When the evolutionary wave of flowering plants surged upon the earth - they modified the atmosphere inhaling carbon dioxide and exhaling oxygen - the proconsuls of our kind - the trees, the green and flowering plants are the lungs of our mother and manufactured precisely that critical mixture of gases upon which we rely and which makes our sky blue.

And as we breathe, on average of 18 times per minute - times 60 minutes - times 24 hours - we have a total of 25,920 breaths of air in 1 earthly day - and what sort of magic is this because 25,920 years is 1 Platonic year which is the time required for our solar system to complete a cycle of the Zodiac which in its turn is just 1 Cosmic breath - ah yes - the sky is blue because......

Another Time another Place.

Within us we contain all those things that were there at the beginning - those different proto forms of life neatly twined in a spiral embrace and packaged in a membrane - reminiscent of mother in her cloak - and from the smallest to the largest - from electron microscope to radio telescope as far as we can probe - the re-occurring patterns, parallel universes and worlds without end - and within us the interlocking sites and receptors that match those of that layer of green upon which we rest - yes we were there at the beginning - another time another place.

Mystery and History.
Before I continue and to avoid awkward syntax the nouns Man and Mankind should be understood in the correct meaning of the terms either individually or collectively which is;

genus - Homo; family - Hominidae; class - Mammalia.

The earliest written history of our kind is little more than 8000 years old - a few baked clay tiles inscribed with cuneiform characters - old and fragile papyrus fragments - not very much upon which to build a bridge of understanding - and such evidence that we have is subject to the interpretation and agreement of the sciences of archeology - paleontology and anthropology. And within our recorded history the destruction by religious fanatics of every persuasion of a million tomes of learning - the forcible imposition by torture fire and sword of primitive cosmologies upon many cultures - the rape and defilement of a Goddess - the ancient Greeks called her 'Gaia' the mother of us all.

Today we can measure time by the ticking of an atom - which will only gain 1 earthly second in 27,500 years - and in the running down of myriad atomic clocks we can delve and measure Gaias very ancient past - and with fragments of stone and bone we can detect the spoor of life in the passing.

A timeless ancient dance of carbon dissolving and reforming to the music of the spheres - but in it all the eternal mystery - the missing links in the theoretical chain of evolution - perhaps they do not exist at all - perhaps the cosmic tide comes in and new life arises - and as it falls the beach is left clean once again - much of our written history whether it be political, religious or social is no more than a falsification - written by the victor to depict their point of view - just to propagate a mean narrow eyed view - and the shepherds dog still controls the mind of the sheep - and Gaia still rolls in passion beneath that great Solar eye.

What is History?
Is it the story of Kings and Queens - of Princes and Princesses - and Warlords and Warrior Chiefs - of blood ebbing and flowing across the face of Gaia - or is it something else? Perhaps it is no more than a phantasmagoria of thought - a swirling smoke of illusion created by Maya that subtle handmaiden of Gaia - perhaps history is no more than a record of shifting forms of thought - Of Magic forcibly suppressed by Religion - and Religion usurped by Science - which as a system of thought has made us Masters of Magic.

Today and at our fingertips we control such things that not 400 years ago - were denounced as Wizardry and Witchcraft and Religion would have tortured and burnt us for our presumption in stepping outside its mean and narrow bounds.

Perhaps those historical written words are no more than a record of our follies in a system of thought - and today we may see the continuing battle between religion, science and gender politics - in the form of Creation versus Evolution and Man versus Woman - and the prize is the mind of a child that will ensure the propagation of a mean eyed view - but beneath it all the Magic dance of Gaia and Maya to the music of the spheres.

Our Needs in Nature.
Our physical needs in nature have never changed and whilst we inhabit our current form they never will - warmth - food - shelter and a rational system of medicine - each one of those needs is attended by vast bodies of knowledge whose cutting edge is constantly renewed as we seek our limits.

but there are those things which are greater than the physical needs - a hunger that cannot be filled by grain and meat - a yearning that is expressed by every culture in its art and its spirituality - each culture a different chord in an unfinished symphony of human life - so each physical need is embellished with philosophy and cosmology - the mythology which underlies our dream of awakening - the synoptic vitalist overview that makes sense of Gaia and her teeming profusion.

It is only natural that all our physical needs are supplied by the flowering plants - they entered every field of human endeavor - our exploration concerns one such field of knowledge -a rational system of medicine - and from that need grew a sublime cosmology - whose ancient truths are year by year affirmed by science - it is a view that can accommodate all systems of thought without losing sight of who it is that the Herbalist really serves - in that great hierarchy of order - of which even our mother is only a servant to another cause - and we puny humans with our frail technology would do well to remember that - for we are no match for Gaia,s fury unleashed in Earth - Air - Fire and water.

For the Earth and her myriad life forms it will be just another turn around the sun, another cycle of the seasons marked by the waxing and waning of the moon. As for our kind we have read different things against the changing back drop of the Zodiac. As the old millennium drops away with the earth bobbing in the Suns celestial wake. We have traversed Pisces in a 2000 year voyage and we enter a new millennium of Aquarius with its as yet unknown influence upon the life of man.

Lest you dismiss this as Astrological Psycho babble, remember that even dry soulless science makes a study of bio-chronometry or biological clocks; For you are just as much a child of the season and place that saw your birth as the largest tree or smallest flower.

But exactly what are we to expect? For the images are many On one hand we have the images of mans technology in space as we prepare to leap for Mars and on the other the realized fruit of our activities on earth. Then we have the stainless steel, the white walls and glass of our medical technology as we tinker with the very fabric of life, and on the other a rising tide of degenerative disease which is mirrored in a diseased environment. Our technology may save us for one or maybe two failed harvests, but what then?

The individual mesmerized and gripped tight in the jaws of political and commercial ambition and gender politics suffers a crisis of perception in the form of a perceived lack of power to alter or to shape events, and yet nothing could be farther from the truth. The image of an avian wing gave birth to an evolving dream of that flight to Mars. Individually or collectively we have the power to make manifest those thoughts and images within the mind. Thus we may soar like Eagles or hurtle like lemmings to our destruction. We have a choice!
